SUMMARY:Waiting for New Wineskins
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nSession 1 | June 3 |  9:00 am – 1:00 pm\nCost: $25 \nLocation: Calvary Lutheran Church\, Golden Valley \n(SAVE THE DATE: Aug 19 | Session 2 | Location TBA) \n  \nAmerican Christianity is at pivotal moment. The broader evangelical movement is fractured and disoriented\, and while many churches are navigating these pressures faithfully\, the demands on leaders are immense and the challenge of forming and discipling congregations has never been greater. \nAt the root of this crisis is an ecclesial identity that has been shaped more by the nation-state and the market than by Scripture. For centuries\, the Protestant church has resisted the biblical call to live as exiles in the world — and that resistance has deformed both how we understand the church and how we understand the pastor’s calling. \nPartnering with Dr. Joel Lawrence and the Center for Pastor Theologians\, we invite you to this collaborative learning series — aimed at orienting us theologically to the moment we are in and beginning to imagine a new way of being the church. \nOur first gathering on June 3 will take up the question at the heart of this crisis: Who are we\, and how did we get here? Drawing on Scripture and the tradition\, Dr. Lawrence will lead us through an examination of the church’s ecclesial identity as the Body of Christ — exploring the historical forces that have deformed that identity\, and what it might look like to recover it. Teaching will be followed by structured conversation\, guided by Rev. Michele Arndt\, giving pastors space to reflect together on what this means for their own congregations and calling. \n  \n  \n  \n*The cost of this event includes coffee\, snacks\, water\, and lunch\, all of which will be provided. If you are able to contribute $25\, we ask that you do so during registration. Scholarship options are also available for those who are unable to pay\, and you will see that option on the registration page. We do not want cost to be a barrier to attending this event. Thank you—we truly value and appreciate your integrity.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_tta_tabs style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”black” active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”Registration” tab_id=”1562163641168-5bc3330e-434f”][vc_column_text]\nREGISTRATION \n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Click Here to Register for June 3″ color=”green” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwaiting_for_new_wineskins.eventbrite.com|target:_blank”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Speakers | Teachers” tab_id=”1562163491765-eb018353-b2e8″][vc_column_text]\n \nJoel Lawrence | Dr. Joel Lawrence (PhD\, Cambridge) serves as the president of the Center for Pastor Theologians. SUMMARY:Juneteenth Worship Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Juneteenth Worship Gathering\nFriday\, June 19 | 7–8:30 PM | Pilgrim Baptist Church\, St. Paul\n  \nJoin Christians from across the Twin Cities for a night of worship\, prayer\, and community at historic Pilgrim Baptist Church in St. Paul’s Rondo neighborhood\, with dessert reception to follow. \nWorship will be led by musicians from multiple Twin Cities churches\, as we gather across lines of race and ethnicity to celebrate emancipation and remember the biblical faith that sustained an enslaved people. \nJuneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Galveston\, TX\, the moment freedom’s promise became freedom’s reality. For Christians\, this is not merely civic memory. Every person bears the image of God\, and Juneteenth invites the Church to celebrate what happens when that truth breaks through\, and to recommit to the work still ahead. \nOur host church has special significance. Pilgrim Baptist Church in St. Paul was the first African American Baptist church established in Minnesota. The congregation was founded during the Civil War\, in 1863\, by enslaved people who had escaped from Missouri\, eventually boarding a steamboat that carried them up the Mississippi River to Fort Snelling. Among them was pastor Robert Thomas Hickman. He and other families initially worshiped in homes and other sites – calling themselves Pilgrims – before locating to its current location in the Rondo neighborhood in 1928. (See history video). \n  \n  \n\n📍 732 Central Ave W\, St. Paul\, MN 55104 | Parking available\nOptional Registration Here! *This helps us plan accordingly for dessert and fellowship afterwards!\n  \nIf your church wants to participate in the joint music and worship team\, reach out to Brie@transformmn.org.
