SUMMARY:Waiting for New Wineskins | Session 2
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nReimagining the Church & Renewing Church Leaders\nPart 2: Sabbath Church | August 19 \nThe American church has been too easily entangled in the power struggles of culture and politics — shaped more by the pressures of the age than by the Gospel. How do we find our way back? \nThis session explores the Sabbath Rule of God as the path to recovering our true identity and purpose as the Body of Christ. \nDr. Joel Lawrence will lead two in-depth sessions — tracing the ecclesial identity crisis of the American church\, then digging into the Sabbath Rule as envisioned in the creation narrative of Genesis and inaugurated in the incarnation of Jesus. As the church continues to navigate the pressure to conform to the political patterns of the age\, the origins of Scripture offer a different vision — inviting us to re-order our aims toward becoming the Sabbath Church\, witnesses to the rightful rule and order given in the beginning. \nPastor Michele Arndt will follow with an applied session on formation. If we are to re-form what has been conformed\, it begins with identifying the old wineskins — and then asking better questions. Michele will share how she has developed formation spaces that shift from metrics focused on what to think to how to think\, orienting congregations toward the kingdom of God rather than the powers of the age. \n  \nWednesday\, August 19 | 9 am – 1 pm\nCan stand alone but builds on Session 1 (June 3). \n  \n\n  \n*The cost of this event includes coffee\, snacks\, water\, and lunch\, all of which will be provided. If you are able to contribute $25\, we ask that you do so under general admission. Scholarship options are also available for those who are unable to pay\, and you will see that option under “get tickets.” We in no way want cost to be a barrier to attending this event. Thank you—we truly value and appreciate your integrity. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_tta_tabs style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”black” active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”Registration” tab_id=”1562163641168-5bc3330e-434f”][vc_column_text]\nREGISTRATION \n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Register for Session 2 here!” color=”green” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.eventbrite.com%2Fe%2F1990698456672%3Faff%3Doddtdtcreator|target:_blank”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Speakers | Teachers” tab_id=”1562163491765-eb018353-b2e8″][vc_column_text]\n \nJoel Lawrence | Dr. Joel Lawrence (PhD\, Cambridge) serves as the president of the Center for Pastor Theologians. Adult healing groups are meant for those ages 18 and older and are not intended to be a replacement for professional mental health care. \nAfter participating\, an individual may determine with their trainer if they are ready to lead others through a healing group. \nInitial Facilitator Training \nFacilitator training equips people to lead Healing Groups. Participants will learn skills to know how to be safe people to those that have experienced deep pain and suffering. The training combines both biblical and mental health principles related to trauma care. \nParticipants must have first attended a Healing Group in order to be trained as a facilitator. \nAdvanced Facilitator Training \nThe Advanced Facilitator Training builds upon the skills already gained through the Initial Facilitator Training. Participants must have led 2 healing groups to attend an Advanced Facilitator Training.
