SUMMARY:Faith Over Division
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nFaith Over Division \nRejecting violence. Renewing our witness. Uniting the Chuch \nOctober 27\, 2025 | 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm \nLocation: Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church \n2600 E 38th Street\, Minneapolis\, MN 55406 \n  \nWhat once seemed unthinkable in Minnesota has now become a sobering reality—a political assassination of a state representative and a tragic school shooting within our own state. Beyond Minnesota\, the picture is just as troubling: the killing of a political activist\, an attempted assassination of the President\, a break-in at the Governor of Pennsylvania’s home\, a plot to kidnap the Governor of Michigan – and the list goes on. Together\, these events leave us asking: How did we get here? Why does it seem that more and more people see violence as the only answer to disagreement? \nAs our communities and our nation grieve and search for a way forward\, we believe the Church has a deeper role to play – helping believers move beyond confusion and sorrow into meaningful action. We must learn to engage across political and ideological lines with Christlike love rather than mirroring the division around us. We must learn to engage our neighbors with a humble\, faithful witness rather than responding in outrage to those who disagree with us. We must actively contribute to a future where such violence no longer finds fertile ground. \nThe Twin Cities AND Campaign Chapter is hosting an important gathering this October in partnership with the AND Campaign’s national team. Founder and Executive Director Justin Giboney will help us understand the connection between harmful political rhetoric and increased division and violence\, and learn to embody the Gospel with humility and conviction in our civil discourse. \nWe will also hear from a panel of local leaders who will share how political division impacts their work in the public square\, and how their faith compels them to call the Church toward greater unity. \nTogether with several local churches and ministries\, we aim to create space for an honest conversation about the rise of harmful political rhetoric and its connection to increasing political violence. \n *Free event — registration is required. Optional $10 donation supports the And Campaign. \n*The viewpoints of the speakers in this event are their own and don’t necessarily reflect that of Transform Minnesota \n[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column]\n \n \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n SPEAKERS\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n FAQ\n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n [vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Click to Register!” style=”classic” color=”green” size=”lg” align=”center” button_block=”true” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2FFaithOverDivision.eventbrite.com|target:_blank”]\n \n \n [vc_column_text]\nOUR SPEAKERS \nJustin Giboney|AND Campaign\nJustin Giboney is an attorney\, political strategist\, and ordained minister in Atlanta\, GA. SUMMARY:Juneteenth Worship Gathering
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_column_text]\nJuneteenth Worship Gathering \nWednesday\, June 19th\, 2024\nGreater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church \n2600 E 38th St\, Minneapolis\, MN 55406 \n  \nJuneteenth is a combination of the words “June” and “Nineteenth” and celebrates Union troops arriving in Galveston Bay\, Texas with news of freedom. While many of us learned that enslaved people were freed when President Lincoln enacted the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863\, news of the Emancipation Proclamation did not reach all enslaved people until June 19\, 1865.  \nJuneteenth is a day of remembrance; a day to commit to working towards dignity\, unity\, and equality for all people.  \nPlease join Transform Minnesota and a group of churches across Minnesota for a community worship night commemorating and celebrating Juneteenth!   \nThis inspiring night of worship and prayer will be hosted by Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and led by a multiracial group of leaders.  \nConnect with a diverse group of believers as we honor the history of Juneteenth and the ongoing journey toward racial justice.  \nDiscover the promise and vision for what we can do together as Christians when we are equipped and mobilized to continue building a community of healing and reconciliation!  \n“By acknowledging June 19 as a reminder of hope\, the American Church can lead in the process of America’s healing. This is the work of the Church – to bring people together\, following the example of Jesus and his teachings. If we truly want healing – healing in our hearts\, healing in our communities\, healing in our nation\, and yes\, even\, or perhaps especially\, healing in our churches and denominations – we must acknowledge\, lament\, and confess the sins of our past so we can lock arms across all divisions and differences and do the work that Jesus died for and that God calls us to: to love one another.” – Elder Sharon Richards\, Oak Hills Baptist Church\, Folsom\, CA [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”75px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row ct_row_stretch=””][vc_column][vc_tta_tabs shape=”square” color=”black” active_section=”1″ title=”Registration”][vc_tta_section tab_id=”1706736189029-43daa620-19a9″ title=”Registration”][vc_column_text]\nThe Juneteenth Worship Gathering is a free event & no registration is required.  Feel free to invite friends & just show up! \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”FAQ” tab_id=”1562098972329-730ba762-c5f8″][vc_column_text]\nFAQ \n\nHow much does it cost to attend the worship gathering? \nThis is a free event!  No Registration is required. \n\nWill there be childcare available? \nYour children are welcome\, but there will be not be childcare available. \n\nWhere can I park? \nFree on street parking is available.  We strongly encourage you to consider carpooling. \n\nWill there be refreshments? \nAfter the worship gathering\, there will be a time of fellowship with light refreshments & drinks. \n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][/vc_column][/vc_row]
