DESCRIPTION:TRAUMA INFORMED\nHow Christian communities can heal unseen wounds \nJune 26\, 2019  |  9:00am – 12:00pm\nSanctuary Covenant Church \n  \nThe way trauma impacts people in our churches and communities is often misunderstood. The hidden influence of trauma can have a lifelong impact on our personalities and our direction in life. \nBased on the emerging field of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and scientific understanding of how childhood trauma affects people throughout their lives; the Church is uniquely positioned to be a healing community. \nOur trainer\, Tom Gonzalez\, is an expert in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and a former long-time pastor. Through learning about ACEs and its lifelong impact\, the Church will be better trained and equipped to minister to vulnerable\, traumatized people\, and can bring help and healing to our communities. \nCome learn how the Church can be a healing presence for the growing number of trauma survivors we serve in our communities. \n \n  \n  \nSPEAKER\nTom Gonzalez | Bridges of Hope\nTom is the Self-Healing Communities Project co-coordinator at Bridges of Hope and has been in ministry for almost twenty years. He grew up in an alcoholic family and has personally experienced the toxic stress that environment produces. One of his passions in ministry is pastoral counseling\, where he works with a variety of people helping them work through their life struggles. Tom has his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Crown College in Pastoral Ministry and Church Leadership\, respectively\, and is currently working on his doctorate at Bethel Seminary researching ACEs and their effects on resiliency in pastoral ministry.
