MN Faith-Based Anti-Trafficking Efforts

Leading up to Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis on February 4, 2018, many faith-based organizations and churches are offering trainings, outreach, prayer and worship opportunities to work against sex trafficking.

ONE-TIME EVENTS

Stop the Trafficking Blessing Bag Assembly – Donations Needed

Join Grace Church in donating, assembling and praying over bags to be given to local police and frontline workers who encounter victims of sex trafficking during the Super Bowl. Bags include hygiene items, gift cards, hand-knit hats and mittens

“Through this free gift we want to communicate to each of these women and girls trapped in sex trafficking that they are valued and priceless. That’s the message prayed over each bag and handwritten on a note attached to each bag,” said Christine Erickson, Director of OneLess Ministry at Grace Church.

These Stop the Trafficking blessings bags have become a bridge for police officers to talk with the sex-trafficking victims, and explain that someone thought of them and prayed for them while they were knitting the hand-made items.

Gift card donations to Target, Cub, or SuperAmerica are welcome in $10 or $20 denominations or any of the following high-quality donation items: shampoo/conditioner (travel size), deodorant, toothbrush/paste, hand lotion, chapstick, hand warmers, packaged snacks.

Donations can be dropped off at Grace Church in Eden Prairie through Tuesday, January 23.

Serve the City Super Bowl 2018

Providing a warm and welcoming place for exploited people in our community

Week of 1/28-2/5

Hope Community Church is partnering with Source MN and the Minneapolis Police Department to offer a warm and welcoming place for women who want to get out of trafficking.

Following police recovering operations, the Serve the City Super Bowl team will supply meals and snacks to officers and women interested in follow-up care. Serve the City Super Bowl will provide hot meals, a warm place to stay, and welcome baskets with clothes, pajamas, toiletries, snacks and gift cards to victims of sex-trafficking.

“In the book of Jeremiah we are told to seek the welfare of the city and pray to the Lord on its behalf. That’s why we are working with Source and MPD to create a warm and welcoming space for people who are being exploited in our city,” said Rob Warland, Ministry Associate at Hope Community Church.

Volunteers are needed to make freezer meals, organize restaurant donations, and give gift cards to grocery stores. Volunteers are also needed for set-up, clean-up, hospitality, and security during the week of 1/28/18-2/5/18.

For more information email Rob Warland at Hope Community Church with any questions.
