Anti-Asian Violence
Tuesday, April 27, 2021 | 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
$15 Access
Hate crimes toward Asian Americans increased by nearly 150% in 2020. While discrimination toward the AAPI community has existed for centuries, Covid and the recent shooting in Atlanta shooting have brought this issue to the forefront. The cumulative impact on Asian Americans is that many feel threatened, unsafe, and unwelcome.
Christians are called to assert the dignity and value of every human life. The Church is called to hear the stories and take active steps to disrupt discrimination, racism and violence. Join us as we listen and learn from Jane Menning, Associate City Director of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Navigators, T. Cher Moua, Course Instructor at the Hmong Christian Institute, and Khanh Nguyễn, Founder & President of C3: Cultural Competency Consulting.
Our panel will discuss:
• Honoring and including Asian Americans in the conversation on race and racism
• Understanding the differences between stereotypes and generalizations
• How churches can lead the way in dismantling anti-Asian racism
