Micah 6:8 instructs us to act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God. On Friday, Sept. 25, White clergy will be gathering in that humble spirit of repentance for our indifference and inaction to racial injustice. And, in keeping with the fruit of repentance, we will be committing ourselves to the long, hard work of biblical justice and racial reconciliation (please see commitment card below). It is time for the Church to lead the way in seeking true justice and reconciliation. Although this is a repentance event for White clergy, we encourage you to invite Black, Indigenous, and People of Color clergy to join us in a spirit of solidarity and unity. Clergy from the Twin Cities’ metro will be gathering to make a public statement to our Black sisters and brothers that many of us have not kept vigilant in the struggle against racial injustice. Our indifference and inaction have allowed the damaging status quo to remain in effect while our Black sisters and brothers suffer under its deadly shadow. We want the Black Church to know that BEYOND WORDS they can Count Us In in the struggle for a more just and equal society. Our kick-off event on September 25th will be led by the following local speakers:
