Effective Board Practices for Churches and Ministries
Creating a Healthy Board Culture
Effective boards are the result of strong partnership between the board chair and senior staff person (senior pastor, CEO, Executive Director) as they guide board culture, relationships and practices. You will receive the best value from this seminar if the board chair and senior staff attend together.
This training will help you:
- Create a healthy board culture (how the board operates and carries out its roles)
- Get organized for effectiveness
- Have productive and engaging board meetings
- Work with and engage the board in meaningful ways
The seminar content is applicable for elder boards of churches and for governing boards of ministry non-profits. The trainers have extensive board governance experience in both churches and non-profits, in both board member and staff roles.
Pat Mazorol is an attorney and board governance consultant. He is currently Elder Board Chairman of Wooddale Church, Board Chairman of Transform Minnesota and a board director of World Relief. He previously served as a trustee of Bethel University and two earlier terms as elder at Wooddale.
Carl Nelson is President/CEO of Transform Minnesota and has served in a CEO/E.D. role working with board chairs and directors since 1999. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Association of Evangelicals, is a board director of Arrive Ministries, Damascus Way Reentry Center and New Life Family Services, and was previously Leadership Team Chairman and member at Elim Church and a director on the Board of Stewards of the MN-IA Baptist Conference.
