Gen Z and the Church
Tuesday, March 9, 2021 | 10:00 am – 11:30 am
$15 Webinar Access
Transform Minnesota is thankful to host Nina Barnes, Vice President for Student Life and Human Resources at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul, for the third webinar in our Gen Z and the Church series.
After learning what makes Gen Z unique (Savannah Kimberlin, Barna Group), and how to disciple Gen Z in their deconstruction and doubt (A.J. Swoboda), we are excited to hear from Nina on the internal group dynamics and differences within Gen Z. In her work with college students, Nina has gained insight into a wide range of complex perspectives held by Gen Z. She will provide observations and highlight the significant differences and commonalities among Gen Z. A few factors we will discuss include political party affiliation and ideologies; inherited faith traditions and practices; perceived hypocrisy and inauthenticity within older generations; and challenges in navigating between Scripture, theological frameworks, viewpoints on sexuality, and approaches to justice issues.
Despite these differences, Nina will share what this generation seems to collectively long for, struggle with, and how the Church can authentically disciple Gen Z leaders. Her focus is to help students wrestle with conflicting philosophies and perspectives by developing spiritual practices that encourage freedom and joy in living out the abundant life promised by Jesus. Join us as we learn from Nina’s experience for application in youth ministries, fellowship, and discipleship here in our communities and congregations.
There will be a limited number of attendees to allow for in-depth conversation and Q&A with Nina. This formatting is geared towards group conversation and active participation with other Twin Cities pastors and ministry leaders.
