TRAUMA HEALING ADVANCED FACILITATOR TRAINING

April 28 – 30, 2022
9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Location: Transform Minnesota
Materials will be provided at the training.

The Advanced Facilitator Training builds upon the skills of those who have already attended an Initial Facilitator Training and completed their practicum (leading at least two healing groups). Participants who have the necessary competencies will be certified as training facilitators or healing group facilitators at the end of the advanced session.

Necessary Qualifications:

• Have attended an Initial Facilitator Training, led at least two healing groups, and submitted reports to the Trauma Healing Institute (traumahealing@americanbible.org)
• Able to attend each day of the training (certificates will only be granted to those who do so)
• Fluent in English
• At least 18 years old
• Committed to helping trauma survivors and able to dedicate 2 weeks per year to trauma healing
• Able to teach others, manage own wellbeing, work on a team, and learn to lead groups in a participatory way

Please note that certification as a facilitator requires attendance at ALL sessions, but also that attendance does not guarantee certification as a facilitator.

Below are the components of the Trauma Healing Initiative:

Healing Groups

A healing group is a safe, multi-session small group. People with deep wounds from trauma can find healing, engage with Scripture, learn to feel safe, learn to trust, and know they are valued.

Healing Groups are led by certified facilitators and cover topics such as God’s presence in suffering, grieving, and forgiveness. Adult healing groups are meant for those ages 18 and older and are not intended to be a replacement for professional mental health care.

After participating, an individual may determine with their trainer if they are ready to lead others through a healing group.

Initial Facilitator Training

Facilitator training equips people to lead Healing Groups. Participants will learn skills to know how to be safe people to those that have experienced deep pain and suffering. The training combines both biblical and mental health principles related to trauma care.

Participants must have first attended a Healing Group in order to be trained as a facilitator.

Advanced Facilitator Training

The Advanced Facilitator Training builds upon the skills already gained through the Initial Facilitator Training. Participants must have led 2 healing groups to attend an Advanced Facilitator Training. By the end of this session, trainers will be better able to solve issues arising in trauma healing as they carry out their ministries.

Healing Group + Facilitator Training

At times we will combine a Healing Group with an Initial Facilitator Training. While this is a longer time commitment there is the benefit of experiencing a Healing Froup and moving directly into Initial Facilitator Training.
