Mission: St. Paul will lead walk of humility & repentance on Good Friday, April 18.

What happens when churches come together to demonstrate and communicate the gospel? Entire neighborhoods, communities and even cities can experience Christ-led transformation.

Mission St. Paul, an interdenominational network of churches, pastors and ministries working for peace and the welfare of St. Paul, is sponsoring the second annual Good Friday Crosswalk: A Walk of Humility and Repentance.

The walk will begin on Friday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m. in the neighborhoods along University Avenue and Dale Street in St. Paul.

“We will reflect on Good Friday around the suffering of our Lord and enter into that suffering on behalf of our city, which He loves and died for,” according to the Mission St. Paul website. “The walk signifies our Christian concern for the suffering of the surrounding neighborhoods related to socioeconomic disparities; racial divisions; violence; families that are struggling; [and] brokenness in our city.”

Groups will gather at four locations along University and Dale and pray and walk toward the former Rock of Ages Church at Sherburne Avenue and Dale Street. At 1:00 p.m., a public corporate prayer gathering will occur.

Carl Nelson, president and CEO of Transform Minnesota believes these types of movements and events are critical if Christians want to demonstrate Christ’s love for neighborhoods, communities and cities.

“Jesus spent a lot of time on His earthly mission with those suffering,” Nelson said. “He did this not only because He loves and cares for those hurting but also to demonstrate to His followers the significance of this kingdom work. Mission St. Paul is doing this important work—and so should we.”
