300 Pastors Pray for Unity at UNITE National Day of Prayer

Praying for Unity

300 Minnesota pastors gathered together, lifting up in prayer the UNITE National Day of Prayer to be held at Mariucci Arena. Pastors from nearly every denomination prayed for each other, prayed for unity in the Twin Cities, and for the upcoming National Day of Prayer held on May 5, 2016.

“It’s such an encouragement to pray with other believers who you just met for the first time, there is such a unity in Christ that is unexplainable. That is something nothing else in the world can bring to someone’s life,” said Justin Jeppesen, Assistant Pastor at Cross of Glory Church.

Pulse Chief Communicator and evangelist Nick Hall spoke to the room full of pastors about the importance of unity in the body of Christ. “Unity doesn’t mean uniformity, but it does mean we can come together around Jesus,” said Hall.

Jesus spoke about this unity in John 17:22-23 “…that they may be one, JUST AS We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, SO THAT the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.”

Reverend Bob Christenson, Lead Pastor of Park Assembly Church in St. Louis Park attended UNITE last year and was encouraged by the way the unity of Christ’s mission stirred his heart.

“There’s multiple denominations all loving Jesus, all worshipping, all praying for our nation. It’s like I might be a small fish in a great big pond, but there’s hundreds of thousands of other small fish filling up that great big pond. It really helps to see that you are just a part of a bigger team,” said Christenson.

Last year, nearly 11,000 people gathered together for UNITE National Day of Prayer, making it the largest NDOP event in the country.

“There is power in unity, there is something supernatural about a united body of Christ,” said Hall. “For a young generation, one of the biggest turn-offs is division.”

Heaven on Earth

Jeppeson said the event strengthened his faith, and gave him a bigger picture of what God is doing in the Twin Cities. He also views UNITE National Day of Prayer as an outreach tool.

“This (event) is a great thing to bring a friend to, who is seeking or searching, because they get to see a picture on earth of what heaven’s going to be like. It shows such diversity and amazing unity,” said Jeppeson.

Jesus prayed that the Church would be one. Please pray that May 5, 2016 is a night for the Twin Cities to come together, regardless of generation, denomination or background, to UNITE for Christ.
