Law Changes Still Affecting Employers
Last Tuesday, more than 100 participants joined us for the second part of our Minnesota Employment Law Changes webinar series. Attorney Virginia Cronin returned to discuss upcoming changes that churches and ministries need to prepare to address.
Cronin began with a brief review of law changes that have already gone into effect in the last three months. She was able to answer some questions and provide clarity about the responsibilities employers now face under these laws.
After taking time to look back, Cronin shifted focus to multiple changes that are still to come. These include statewide safe and sick leave and paid family and medical leave, among others. Cronin reiterated that many of the law changes will require updates to policies and handbooks. Employees will need to be given notice as changes are made. Cronin also encouraged participants to provide training for managers, board members, and supervisors regarding numerous regulation changes.
With the implementation of some state laws still several years away and proposals coming at the federal level, employers will want to follow updates as they come and seek legal counsel for their specific needs.
Transform Minnesota is committed to helping equip ministries for the variety of challenges they face. Stay tuned to our events page for upcoming equipping opportunities.
