Identity and Belonging: Building Church Community for Celibate, Gay Christians

Join us for a conversation with Dr. Greg Coles, Senior Research Fellow for The Center for Faith, Sexuality & Gender and author of Single, Gay Christian and No Longer Strangers. Greg will explore the definition and experience of Side B Christians, as well as how the Church has historically interacted with and can create a healthy community that embraces the fullness and beauty of Side B Christians. 

Those who are Side B believe the goal for every person’s life is to pursue holiness; for LGBT+ believers that is either celibacy or monogamous, opposite-sex marriage. 

There will be plenty of time for Q&A with Greg after his presentation.

Dr. Gregory Coles | CENTER FOR FAITH, SEXUALITY AND GENDER
KEYNOTE SPEAKER 

Dr. Greg Coles is the Senior Research Fellow working with Dr. Preston Sprinkle, President of the Center for Faith, Sexuality and Gender. The Center helps Christian leaders cultivate a more robust biblical ethic of marriage, sexuality and gender, and helps Churches and ministries create safe and compassionate environments for LGBT+ people and their families.  

Raised as the son of American missionaries in Indonesia, Greg began to wrestle with his attraction to other men in adolescence. While searching the scriptures hoping to find some support for same-sex relationships, he concluded that the Christian sexual ethic taught in the Bible reserved sexual intimacy to be experienced only marriage between a man and a woman.

WILL PARKING BE AVAILABLE?

Yes, there is ample free parking lot space available.

WHEN DOES REGISTRATION CLOSE?

Registration will close on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 9:00 am CST.

WILL FOOD AND COFFEE BE AVAILABLE?

We will have coffee and a light snack available during a 15 minute break.

WHEN DO THE DOORS OPEN?

The doors will open at 1:15 pm on Wednesday afternoon.
