Dr. Brian Volck, MD will read from his recent memoir Attending Others: A Physician’s Education in Bodies and Words. Brian Volck is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He is also the coauthor of Reclaiming the Body: Christians and the Faithful Use of Modern Medicine (Brazos, 2006), with Joel Schuman, and the author of the poetry collection Flesh Becomes Word (Dos Madres, 2013). During his medical career, he has provided pediatric care at an Indian Health Service hospital on the Navajo Reservation, at an inner-city community health center in Kentucky, at a storefront pediatric office, and at a university-affiliated combined internal medicine-pediatrics teaching practice.
