Sankofa at Home

What is Sankofa @ Home?

Since 2017, groups of church leaders from around Minnesota have experienced the history of slavery and civil rights as part of our Sankofa journeys through the Southeast. But the practice of Sankofa isn’t limited to these journeys – it can happen right in our backyard!

Sankofa @ Home is a series of articles which form a self-guided exploration of Minnesota’s past. You can visit sites from the Twin Cities to Duluth, Mankato, and beyond to learn how race and racism have shaped the past, informed the present, and influence the future of our state.
